OUR STORY

Where it begins...

In 2015, after joining his local secondary school, a student from Northampton, sat down at his desk to work on his homework. Working on an extremely difficult piece of homework, he decided that action needed to be taken. In 2016, he decided to found a group which went by the name "No Homework Northants", a move he hoped would force his school to take action. He created a petition which received a lot of attention from fellow classmates, but lack of awareness by the rest of the school planted failure.

September 2016 saw No Homework Northants taken to a new level, after it was decided to update the logo and rename our group to "No Homework UK". September also saw the introduction of our first beta website (defunct), and our app (which you can download here). After lack of TLC, the group's Facebook page (link here) came offline, but in May 2017, the page was replenished and online again. Also in May, the website was replenished multiple times.

In June 2017, the school in which the No Homework movement was founded, decided to announce a mock election, running alongside the national General Elections, in an attempt to raise political awareness amongst the youth. The No Homework UK founder won the election, with the major pledge of removing homework, perhaps the reason for victory. This displays student attitudes towards the dreaded tasks. June also saw the introduction of our new beta website.

No Homework UK wants to keep spreading the word of hope to students across the UK. We would really appreciate if you would share this page and tell your friends, and don't forget to check out our Facebook and Instagram.
